Observability Pipelines Have Never Been This Easy to Set Up, Manage, and Troubleshoot

Last edited: November 9, 2022

Did you know? Baby goats stand and take their first steps within minutes of being born.

There is no stopping the goats! Likewise, there’s no stopping the goats at Cribl from innovating!

Our product herd is growing rapidly, and it’s time for us to share the latest and greatest about our head of the product herd – Cribl Stream. (If you haven’t figured it out yet, We love goats here at Cribl. We even have a goat mascot; meet Ian)

Cribl Stream Gets a New Look and Feel

Welcome to a revamped Cribl Suite featuring a streamlined interface and single management portal for all Cribl products and services. The new home page shows a high-level overview of Cribl Stream and Cribl Edge with launch points to manage both products, giving our users an easy way to launch into either product.

Time for another bit of goat trivia. Goats have fascinating and hyper-effective eyes. Their horizontal pupils give them a much wider visual range than most other creatures, allowing them an almost 360-degree field of vision. Likewise, the Cribl suite of products, with the new UI/UX, will enable you to see the bigger picture across more of your data than ever before.

If you’d like to dive ocean-deep into our newer UI/UX changes, please read this blog post.

Pipeline Profiling Moves Admins From Troubleshooting to Innovating

Cribl Stream’s Pipeline Profiling feature helps identify performance issues with granular function-level stats in Preview mode. With Pipeline Profiling, you don’t have to troubleshoot in the production environment – you can determine the performance of a pipeline BEFORE it is deployed. Pipeline profiling provides resource consumption stats for pipelines and individual functions within pipelines, including:

  • Latency introduced by the function/pipeline.

  • Throughput (in/out, events/bytes)

  • Data reduction

The Pipeline Profiling feature can be enabled on-demand when there is a need to troubleshoot performance issues. With Cribl Stream’s Pipeline Profiling feature, ITOps and SecOps teams can quickly isolate and fix pipeline performance issues.

DB Collector for Processing Data in SQL Databases With Stream

For a long time, admins have been stuck operating with multiple data islands. For example, customers go a long way to capture data into SQL database repositories such as SQL Server or MySQL. They end up building custom pipelines and tools to analyze data within these databases and turn them into insights. We empathize with the customers who depend on those cumbersome data analytics methods.

To help them accelerate the time to insights, we are delighted to introduce Database Collectors for SQL Server and MySQL databases to connect into Cribl Stream. Remember, goats were among the first animals to be tamed by humans, and Cribl is leading the way to help businesses tame their data wherever it resides.

Cribl Enables the Convergence of Security and Observability With the Recent Integrations with SentinelOne and CrowdStrike Falcon® LogScale

Security and Log Management go hand-in-hand to mitigate and resolve Cybersecurity threats by the ITOps, SOC, and SecOps teams. Cribl helps optimize data collection at scale, enabling security teams to minimize risk and save time.

On those lines, we recently introduced tighter integrations with Security platforms in CrowdStrike Falcon® LogScale and SentinelOne. While not strictly a part of the Cribl Stream 4.0 launch, I wanted to take the opportunity to also talk about the announcements we made in this regard:
